Description
Rechenpfennig (counter token) issued by Johann Jakob Lauer, featuring Friedrich Wilhelm III, King of Prussia (1797–1840). The obverse shows the bust of the king facing left with the legend FRIED: WILH: III KÖN: V. PREUSSEN IETTON (Frederick William III, King of Prussia, token) and denomination below the truncation. The reverse depicts an eagle with the inscription REIN OHNE SCHULD IETTON (“Pure without guilt token”). Such tokens were produced in Nuremberg for counting, calculation, and educational purposes, often portraying notable rulers of the period.
