Description
Silver Dirham issued in 605 AH (1209 AD) under al-Awhad Najm al-Din Ayyub at Mayafariqin, during the overlordship of al-‘Adil I. The obverse features a border of pellets with a counterclockwise marginal legend in Arabic. At the center is the facing bust of a turbaned prince with earrings or pendants, wearing a cloak gathered at the shoulders and held at the center with the left hand. Short legend flanks the head. The reverse presents a plain circle within a circle of pellets, enclosing a linear six-pointed star formed by two overlapping triangles, with Arabic inscriptions inside. Minted in Mayafariqin (modern Silvan, Turkey).
