Description
Swedish 1 Daler Silvermynt emergency issue from 1718 during the reign of Charles XII. The obverse depicts Jupiter with eagle and the inscription IVPITER 1718. The reverse shows the value I. DALER S.M. within a wreath topped by three crowns. These coins, minted between 1715–1719, were struck during an economic crisis. Although marked as 1 daler, they were heavily underweight compared to the copper standard of about 756 g. Minting stopped in 1719, but the coins circulated for years, first as 1 öre KM and later as 1/12 skilling. Mintage: 300,000 pieces.
